Financial Assistance

CSA-Community Services Agency

Private, non-profit. Offers programs in human services, economic development, education and affordable housing.

 

DETR Career Enhancement Program

State-funded. Services include career guidance and skill enhancement training.

 

JOIN, Inc.

Private, non-profit. No-cost client services include: Vocational assessments, career guidance, occupation-specific training, basic education classes and high school equivalency preparation (in some locations) and support services (child care, transportation, work clothing, etc.)

Provides no-cost tools, training and resources for job seekers looking to enter the workforce in Southern Nevada.

Private Technical Training Institute with programs in: HVAC, Residential & Commercial Electrician.

 

Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.

Apprenticeship programs in electrical and plumbing.

 

Sierra Nevada Job Corps

Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Provides education and career technical training programs for young people ages 16-24. Includes Carpentry, Cement Masonry, Electrical, Painting, Plastering and Welding.

 

Career College of Northern Nevada

Private career college in Sparks, Nevada providing career-ready training in HVAC/R Service Technician, Welding and Fabrication and Facility Maintenance

 

College of Southern Nevada

Las Vegas area Community College offering degree and certificate programs in: Air Conditioning Technology, Architectural Design, Construction Management, Facilities Maintenance, Welding Technology and Apprenticeship Studies.

 

Great Basin College (Elko & Winnemucca)

Community College. Offers certificate and degree programs in Electrical Systems, Welding, Land Surveying.

 

Northern Nevada Apprenticeship Coordinators Association

Union apprenticeship programs in:  Construction Craft Laborers, Electricians, Heat and Frost Insulators, Ironworkers, NV Energy, Operating Engineers, Painters & Allied Trades, Plasterers & Cement Masons, Plumbers & Pipefitters, Sheet Metal Workers, Stationary Engineers.

 

Plumbing Heating & Cooling Contractors of Nevada

Provides apprenticeship programs in plumbing, heating & cooling in both Southern and Northern Nevada.

 

Truckee Meadows Community College

Community College in Reno, NV. Offers degree and certificate programs in Construction Management, Construction Technologies, Drafting, HVAC/R, Solar Energy and apprenticeship programs including Electrical, Tile setting, Pipefitting and Ironwork.

Community College, Winnemucca. Serves both native English speaking and Transition ESL students who need to improve Basic English and math skills before enrolling in a High School Equivalency (HSE) or College class.

 

Northern Nevada Literacy Council

Provides free Citizenship Classes as well as English reading, writing and speaking for adult learners.

 

Truckee Meadows Community College ESL Program

Services for non-native English speakers and who wish to improve their English language skills. All skill levels and free testing available.

Washoe County School District’s Adult Education Program. Focus is on supporting adults in the Washoe County. Programs include Adult Diploma, High School Equivalency, English Language Learner Program; Distance Education; Adult Basic Education to improve literacy and numeracy and High School Proficiency Exam Prep Courses and Testing.

 

Truckee Meadows Community College Adult Basic Education

Grant-funded program. Offers free or low-cost courses to English language learners and those preparing to take the GED, HiSET or TASC tests.
